The China Machine Tool and Tool Industry Association (CMTBA), established in March 1988 with the approval of the Ministry of Civil Affairs of the Peoples Republic of China, is a national, industry-specific, non-profit social organization with legal personality as a social organization. Its permanent establishment is located in Beijing.
The China Machine Tool and Tool Industry Association is mainly composed of manufacturing enterprises in the Chinese machine tool and tool industry, and is voluntarily formed by relevant enterprises or enterprise groups, scientific research and design units, universities, and organizations. At present, there are more than 1900 member units in the fields of metal cutting machine tools, metal forming machine tools, casting machinery, woodworking machine tools, CNC systems, industrial robots, measuring tools, abrasives, machine tool accessories (including machine tool functional components), machine tool electrical appliances, etc. The association has 28 branches and 6 working committees.

Its basic function is to "provide services, reflect demands, and regulate behavior".
